On behalf of Cambodia’s participants who attended the ‘Regional Training on Regulatory Laboratory and Practice on BCA [Biological Control Agent] and Biofertilizer’ held on 14 to 18 December 2015 in Bangkok, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the Department of Agriculture in Thailand who hosted the training in collaboration with the ASEAN Sustainable Agrifood Systems project.
This training is very helpful to the Cambodian government staff. It is a baseline for my career, which I have gained valuable knowledge to conduct my laboratory skills more efficiently. I am really interested in the entire subjects set for study in the period of training.
During the training, I was advised on the important role of BCA and biofertilzer in promoting agriculture sector and issues of ASEAN Sustainable Agrifood Systems. I found the techniques involving BCA and biofertilizer particularly Recombinant theory and direct practices in the laboratory very useful. Besides the theory paper, the lab practices really inspires me to contribute to my maximum into my job in the future.
Having a confidence in one self is very important, and I consider it as one of my biggest strengths, and this I have developed when I take trainings and seminars both inside and outside my home countries, which I usually ensure that they are well explored. To shine in the workplace of tomorrow, one has to have the perfect combination of theory and practical knowledge, which I am aiming towards as one of the technical staffs in Biotechnology Laboratory of National Agriculture Laboratory, General Directorate of Agriculture, Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Cambodia.
In my work, I enjoy the rigorousness of the lab work as much as the anxiety of anticipation, and the pure exhilaration of a positive result.
I believe in a holistic educational experience and learning through a culture sharing, which in this training I can as well learn from Thai experts, staffs from ASEAN Sustainable Agrifood Systems, and participants from countries of Lao PDR, Myanmar, and Vietnam.
It was clear that the regional training is one of the stepping stones to pursue my dreams and achieve my career goals. I hope, in the future, I could create an effectual technology, which will add value to human life.
Finally, I do hope that the technical staffs from Cambodia will be offered the next great opportunity to improve and upgrade the knowledge of biotechnology laboratory because our knowledge is still limited. Moreover, in the next training I hope we will have a longer period than this time.
