Online Training on Climate Smart Agriculture
Online Training on Climate-Smart Agriculture for Extensionists and Farmers
Water is the main ingredient for growing crops. Farmers in some areas must rely on the rain. Unfortunately, the rainy season no longer arrives as it once did due to the climate change. In some years, the rain comes too late; in others, too much water floods the fields. A rice farmer stands at the edge of their land, wondering: When should I plant? Will there be enough water? How can I protect my crop this season? Nearby, an extension officer faces the same uncertainty, tasked with guiding farmers through conditions that are becoming harder to predict.
Online Training on Climate-Smart Agriculture for Extensionists and Farmers is designed for people in exactly these situations. It supports extensionists, farmers, and agricultural professionals in navigating a changing climate with confidence. Rather than relying on past patterns alone, this course introduces practical, forward-looking approaches that help make rice production more resilient, adaptive, and sustainable.
Across 20 modules, you will follow a structured learning journey: from foundational concepts to practical field and landscape applications:
- Module 1: Introduction and Overview
- Module 2: Climate Smart Extension System
- Module 3: CST1 – Weather Forecast Advisory Services
- Module 4: CST2 – Farm-level Water Management

Throughout the course, you will learn how to apply climate-smart techniques such as improved water and soil management, suitable variety selection, and sustainable farming practices, while also strengthening your ability to support others through effective extension approaches.
We invite you to take part in this journey toward becoming a climate-smart extension officer and/or farmer; someone who can turn knowledge into action and support others in doing the same. At the end of each module, you can test your understanding through a short quiz, revisit key concepts, and work toward earning your certificate.
