The GIZ project Remote Sensing-based Information and Insurance for Crops in Emerging Economies (RIICE) has the goal to reduce risks for Asian farmers in the rice sector. With the implementation of remote sensing technologies and the use of information on crop yields and weather data, crop insurance schemes shall become more efficient and transparent. Trainings conducted in six partner countries support the introduction of these new satellite-based agricultural insurance solutions.
